The ability to relate to other people is the most critical skill a person can ever have – at work, at home or anywhere else – and strong people skills simply make everything else easier. With the right approach, developing relationship expertise is an easy route to success and one of the few reliable and enduring ways we can improve our lives. But we need to take the task seriously. Drawing on practical psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) and other wisdom from various philosophies, as well as first-hand experience of organizational life, David Fraser, Ph.D. offers a systematic, practical and intelligent approach to achieving success with other people. Packed with real-life examples and tried-and-tested steps to take, this book is for business professionals who want to develop their interpersonal relationship skills as a key strength.
In his “very positive, helpful and enlightening” and ultimately “uplifting” book, the author sets out the 12 essential areas of interpersonal insight and growth (1) Attention to others; (2) Attitude; (3) Self-control; (4) Tuning in to people; (5) Personality; (6) Connection; (7) Values – working with what matters; (8) Language; (9) Self-awareness; (10) Attention to yourself – clarifying what you really want; (11) Balance; and (12) Love – the power of care. The author includes with honesty a flavor of his own learning journey, and in the words of his readers, the result is “accessible and relevant,” “simply fascinating stuff,” and “very easy and interesting to read.”

Relationships Made Easy for the Business Professional eBook Dr David Fraser Reviews
David Fraser's passion to share his deep experiences of what he's learned about getting on with people, whether it's at work, at home, with friends, or even with people we don't much like makes compelling reading. His practical approach, straight forward style and use of personal examples makes this a very accessible read. Fraser asserts that most personal development training which focuses on ourselves means we will never get beyond the surface and ultimately won't get what we need. His book is different; it focuses on relating well to others in order to meet our own needs. A simple, yet powerful message, and one that we don't often think of. I found the clarity of writing outstanding and do believe that by following the stepped approach laid down in this book we can all be successful in all our relationships. Whether you are new to the material or not, you will learn something from this book and enjoy reading it at the same time. A rival to Dale Carnegie!
This is a very practical book that is useful in developing better relationships - this sounds simple, but it is something that many of us struggle with at times. Relationships can be complex, and David provides clarity on what may or may not be working for us, with insight into why, and what we can chose to do about it.
In addition to being a good "read through" this book is great to dip into when searching for some insight into what may be holding you back - there is a wealth of great content to help increase personal effectiveness.
Whilst the focus of the book is about improving relationships, it is great for anyone with an interest in NLP (neuro-linguistic programming) as it covers many of the key aspects - and in helping us understand how we interact with others, we better understand ourselves.
David makes the content relevant to any relationships - parents, colleagues, children, customers, siblings - this book can help with them all.
Highly recommended Relationships Made Easy for the Business Professional
I've read this book, initially to review it, but with no compensation. Rest assured, as a professional writer who has a reputation to uphold and a career to forge, I felt at liberty to be as brutal or as complimentary as I pleased in the review. I do own my business, but as the sole employee, I couldn't exactly 'test' its principles in my own business. I know plenty of businesses where it could be of value (namely my children's Catholic school). I created a little social experiment with my husband the only other 'cohort'. We began to explain the principles for communication and conflict resolution at the dinner table. Our two little ones, while quite interested, didn't really understand what it was all about, but our teens certainly did! We tried the techniques Dr. Fraser laid out in the book over the course of weeks! It truly improved our communication with our teens and their willingness to communicate! Seriously. It really works, but you have to actually get in the 'down and dirty' and try the principles. Of course, you may need to tailor them to your particular business environment, but they truly work. If they can work (and still are working) with our teens, they can work in ANY business -- big or small -- the book is a great price (and actually a steal) for those who really want to make a difference in their daily environment. Stop the bullying at work. Stop the gossip. Stop the craziness. Get to the business of making a profit. Buy this book!

When I first read Relationships Made Easy I was surprised at how much I enjoyed it. In the past I have been sceptical about corporate approaches to personal development as well as self-help books of the "touchy-feely" variety. This book is entirely different and falls into neither category, but looks at developing skills for relationships in any context, drawing on a range of ideas including those from practical psychology, management theory, NLP and the author's personal and professional experience. While many of us may already be aware of the importance of "communication skills" both at home and at work, the author makes the key point that these are much less important than the relationships which underlie them.
David Fraser shows that skills and tools for good relationships can be learned and approached methodically. While we probably all have some of these skills already, we can learn, in order to enhance and develop the quality of our relationships. It is the author's systematic approach which I found particularly effective - he organises relationships into 12 steps and each step is detailed in its own chapter using practical suggestions and examples which are very clear and well structured. Working through the examples has enabled me to think much more lucidly about my own relationships, and my own and others' values and behaviour.
The book is written in a very accessible, jargon-free style. As a reader I felt I could hear the "voice" of the author, particularly as he is open and honest about his own experiences and insights from his home and working life. I particularly appreciated the final two steps, "Balance" and "Love" which remind us that effective relationships are as important for what they bring to others as much as to ourselves.
